The Faculty of Law of SBU was founded in 1965. With more than 55 years of experience, it is one of the oldest law schools in the country. The faculty was created due to the country’s need to train legal professionals, and it became one of the best law schools in the country. It has almost 70 full-time high profile professors, around 60 of whom are the members of the Science Committee, and have a great impact on the research quality of the students.
The program of study comprises various law courses in different legal fields. The Faculty of Law consists of 10 leading specialized departments for teaching at the master’s level as follows: Criminology and Criminal Law, Economic Law, Environment Law, Human Rights Law, Intellectual Property Law and Cyber Law, International Commercial Law, International Law, Islamic Law, Private Law, and Public Law.
Law graduates at the master’s level may continue their studies at the PhD level in six different fields as follows: international law, public law, private law, criminology and criminal law, oil and gas law, and international trade and investment law.
Strong knowledge and skills that SBU graduates acquire has made them the best candidates for high-level management positions in Iran and even abroad. Moreover, they can easily pass entrance exams for judiciary and notary. Advocates are graduates of this law faculty. Our law students have also scored well in moot courts and Olympiads.
The Faculty of Law and its members are at the forefront of legal research in the world in many fields. The faculty is currently co-operating with many reputable law schools throughout the world. In this regard, the Legal Research Quarterly (LRQ) of the faculty is one of the honored, famous, and best seller journals in human science in Iran. It has been published since 1972. The journal has a general scope of study and publishes creative and novel topics in law.
The Faculty of Law offers opportunities to international students from Europe, America, Asia and Africa to study and engage in research. It also admits scholarship and non-scholarship candidates who are interested in studying in one of the university programs if they have the required scientific qualification.
The faculty constantly develops new facilities on the campus with emphasis on increasing academic activities, including a large-scale library, high-speed Wi-Fi, and access to the most significant online research platforms and legal document databases. It possesses one of the largest legal libraries in the country and holds a total of 21000 books.
